Il Forrer (1902-30, III, p. 625) riporta: At the call of Croker, Maurer came to London towards 1740, to assist his uncle in his work at the mint, but nothing further is known of him, nor can it be ascertained how long he stayed in England. It is surmised that as Croker died without male issue Maurer had been appointed his heir.
