George Gale York 1547 – 1553 Il Forrer (1902-30, II, p. 189) riporta: His initials [...] are met with on a shilling of Edward VL (Rud., IX, 10). Hawkins adds "TG are said to be the initials of Thomas Gale, Mint-master at York; but this a mistake, for that officer's name was George". It is more likely that the monogram has been misread.
